- 1967 The Electrical Engineering Technology(EET) associate degree program began.
- 1969 The Department of Applied Technology established.
- 1973 The B.S. in Computer Science established.
- 1975 The School of Technology established, replacing the Dept. of Applied Technology.
- 1977 The Mathematics Dept. became the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences.
- 1981 The M.S. in Computer Science added.
- 1987 The Department of Computer Science established.
- 1994 The Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering added.
- 2000 The B.S. in Computer Engineering added.
- 2001 The Ph.D. in Computer Science added.
- 2002 The B.S in Computer Network and System Administration added.
- 2003 The B.S. in Software Engineering added.
- 2005 The CS Department occupied Rekhi Hall in January; the building was dedicated in April.
- 2008-09 A University Strategic Faculty Hiring Initiative added a number of new faculty in core computing disciplines.
- 2012 The M.S. in Medical Informatics added, later renamed the M.S. in Health Informatics.
- 2014 The Alliance for Computing, Information, and Automation (ACIA) established.
- 2015 M.S. in Data Science added. The Institute of Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) launched.
- 2016 M.S. in Cybersecurity added.
- May 2018 University "Tech Forward" conversations included the Data Revolution and Sensing task force, which led to the College of Computing.
- August 2019 The Michigan Tech College of Computing opens for business. Adrienne Minerick is Dean; Dept. of Computer Science moves to College of Computing; School of Technology programs in EET, CNSA, and Health Informatics moved to College of Computing.
- 2019 The M.S. in Mechatronics added. The B.S. in Cybersecurity added.
- 2020 The new Department of Applied Computing includes CNSA, Cybersecurity, EET, Mechatronics, and Health Informatics programs. The B.S. in Mechatronics added.
- 2021 The Dave House Dean of Computing is endowed; Dennis Livesay takes the helm of the College of Computing.
