Fellowships usually include stipend and tuition and generally require making good progress toward the degree in exchange for the support.

Internal Funding Opportunities

DeVlieg Foundation Fellowship

The DeVlieg Foundation generously provides support for master's and PhD graduate students pursuing research in engineering, wildlife, and biology at Michigan Tech.

Doctoral Finishing Fellowships

The Graduate School awards Doctoral Finishing Fellowships to PhD candidates close to completing their degrees. These fellowships are available through the generosity of alumni and friends of the University. They are intended to recognize outstanding PhD candidates who are in need of financial support to finish their degrees.

Gem Graduate Fellowships

GEM Graduate Fellowships provide financial support for MS and PhD students from under-represented students in science and engineering.

King-Chávez-Parks Future Faculty Fellowship

To encourage students from racial and ethnic groups that are underrepresented in science and engineering fields to become future faculty, the King-Chávez-Parks Future Faculty Fellowship Program offers financial support to deserving students.

Michigan Space Grants

The Michigan Space Grant Consortium (MSGC) offers fellowships for students in aerospace, space science, Earth system science, and other related science, engineering, or mathematical fields.

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation Graduate Assistantships

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation Graduate Assistantships are available through the generosity of the CSCHF. They are intended to recognize outstanding PhD talent in health-oriented research areas.

Sintokogio Fellowship

Exceptional graduate students in the departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Materials Science and Engineering are invited to apply for a Sintokogio Fellowship. If selected, students go to Nagoya, Japan for two months at SINTOKOGIO LTD’s headquarters during the summer semester as part of a fully-funded work experience program.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship

The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship is a Department of Defense (DoD)-funded fellowship for students pursuing doctoral degrees within areas of DoD interest.

Kalamazoo Community Foundation

The Kalamazoo Community Foundation offers higher education opportunities for students from the Kalamazoo, MI region.

Federal & State Government Fellowship Programs

The Graduate School at Michigan Tech also maintains a table of federal and Michigan government fellowship programs our students have had success with in the past. The Institue for Broadening Participation (IBP) offers a database of fellowships, internships, and funding opportunities for both Masters and Doctoral levels. The specialize in science, technology, engineering, and mathematic related materials but also tools to help you through the processes.
