Summer 2024

The 2024 Summer Bridge Scholars Program will take place from Sunday, July 21 – Friday, August 23. Scholars will live on campus for the full residential program. Move-in and program orientation start Sunday, July 21.

July 21, 2024: Summer Bridge Program Begins
August 11–16, 2024: Prep4Tech
August 18–23, 2024: First-Year Orientation
August 26, 2024: Fall semester begins

Eligibility

The Summer Bridge Program is required for incoming first-year students who have been awarded either the NACME Block Grant Scholarship or the S-STEM Husky PAWS Scholarship and will be attending Michigan Tech in the fall semester. Attendance in the Summer Bridge Program is required for recipients of these scholarships to facilitate a successful transition to college.

Taking classes and required workshops to connect with MTU staff and faculty
Having peer mentors plan activities in the residence hall and around the community. This helps you get to know other students. Many participants stay friends throughout college

Can I work a part-time job while in the Summer Bridge Program?

Scholars should not obtain a part-time job during the program. Due to the requirements and schedule of the program, availability to work a part-time job is extremely limited.

Am I required to live on campus if I live within driving distance?

Yes, living on-campus is a requirement of the program no mater where you are from.

What should I bring?

The Housing staff have made a list of what to bring (and what to leave at home).

Can I bring my car?

You are welcome to bring a vehicle to campus, but chances are you won't need it. If you can't get what you need on campus, we have a number of transportation options to get you around town—not to mention the rides you'll get from friends! If you do decide to bring a vehicle, you'll need to register it with Transportation Services and pay the fee to obtain your parking permit. Permits are also available for motorcycles, scooters, and snowmobiles. Please note that winter storage is not available on campus.
