Data Science

Today’s world runs on data—and the enormous amount of data that modern technologies create is only expected to grow. With a degree in data science, you’ll analyze large amounts of data through a multidisciplinary approach that blends computer science, mathematics, and statistics. You’ll graduate prepared to make data-driven decisions in almost any industry, including automotive, finance, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, and more.

Gain interdisciplinary knowledge from expert faculty in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Join the first, and only, college dedicated solely to computing in the state of Michigan (and one of only a handful in the nation). Explore exciting new fields and gain knowledge using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Choose a technical focus area in software engineering, statistics, cybersecurity, business technology, or design a custom focus area. Each focus area is designed to align with specific minors so you can complete one without additional time for your degree. You can also earn a master’s in one additional year through the Accelerated Master’s program.

"I chose Michigan Tech for its coursework that is aimed at providing practical knowledge in computing with well-designed courses for programming, statistics, and data analysis. Also, the professors are easy to connect with and always make time to assist students."Shalak Gaid Dipti Poudelte, data science
