There’s no other program like it in the state—join it with the knowledge that you'll have Michigan Tech's deep history of wood products research and education backing you up. We've been researching wood products since 1945 and our College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science (CFRES) is home to the largest wood protection research group in the US. We're also working with the state of Michigan to develop green, profitable solutions through sustainable biomaterials projects.
Work with leaders in the biomaterials movement as you explore in the lab, in the classroom and in 4,609 acres of research forest (one of the largest contiguous forested areas in the eastern United States—right outside our back door). Collaborate with faculty through the $1,100 Earn and Learn Assistantship, offered to all CFRES students. Choose from one of three specializations to customize your degree: bioproducts business, sustainable construction, or circular economy. Plus, get to know your CFRES family on a first-name basis through regularly scheduled coffee talks and timber cruising.
