Holds are placed on student accounts for a variety of reasons, including non-completion of required training or forms, or not adhering to Graduate School requirements. Below is an alphabetical listing of holds commonly placed on graduate student accounts with information about when they are placed, how they are released, who to contact for questions, and how programs can identify students missing these requirements.
University Requirements and Trainings Holds
- Master's students completing thesis or report options and doctoral students complete in their 2nd or 3rd semester
- Hold placed in Week 7, 3rd semester

- Students must provide original proof of all bachelor's degrees earned
- PhD students must provide proof of master's degrees to qualify for a reduction in the number of credits required and an increase in the minimum stipend rate. Holds are not placed if this is missing.

- Requirement of University safety policy (see 3.3)
- All students completing a research based degree (dissertation, thesis, or report) must complete this form in their final semester for each degree earned

- Students upload the completed form to their Degree Progress Checklist; paper forms are not accepted
- If expected graduation date is incorrect, student may update their expected graduation term on Degree Progress Checklist to release the hold

- While suspended, or if dismissed, this hold prevents students from registering
